State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy
State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy (SKLPS) is a member of the national laboratory system supported by Ministration of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, It is managed by East China Normal University ( ECNU) . Founded in Shanghai in October 1951, ECNU is one of the most prestigious universities in China and is sponsored by the national programs “Project 211” 、 “Project 985” and “Double First Class ”. With two campuses located in Minhang and Putuo District, and with a total area of over 207 hectares, ECNU has long been reputed as a garden-style University for its beautiful campus scenes. SKLPS is located on Downtown Campus of East China Normal University (Add. 3663 North Zhongshan Road, Shanghai, China), covering a 4000 m2 area of experimental rooms together with a 2500 m2 physical space for offices. Founded in 1986, the laboratory got the name “Open Research Laboratory of Quantum Optics” by the Ministry of Education in 1990. In a period of ten years, it established itself as “Key Laboratory of Optical and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Ministry of Education.” In 2007, it is authorized to be a state key laboratory by the Ministry of Science & Technology of the People’s Republic of China. Currently, SKLPS has been developed into a comprehensive scientific research institute with modern optics as the leading orientation, with exploration of significant fundamental science frontiers and development of large engineering techniques and pioneering laser and optoelectronic application as the focal point, and with high-tech innovation and basic research for application as the core mission.

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance
Shanghai Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance at East China Normal University, started preparations in 2005, and officially founded in December 2008. The overall goal of the laboratory is to carry out cutting-edge science and technology research in the field of magnetic resonance and to provide key technical support for the major needs of Shanghai and the whole country. The main research directions of the laboratory include: 1. Research on cutting-edge magnetic resonance imaging technology; 2. Brain functional imaging research in cognitive neuroscience; 3. Research on high-resolution magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The development and application of magnetic resonance methods is a major feature of laboratory research. The magnetic resonance methods such as quantitative magnetic susceptibility imaging technology developed by the laboratory have gained prominent influence internationally. The relevant scientific researchers have been repeatedly selected into the annual Thomson Reuters Global Highly Cited Scientists List. The laboratory adhered to the development of magnetic resonance technology with independent intellectual property rights at the beginning of its establishment. It has independently developed a number of medical magnetic resonance imaging systems and low-field magnetic resonance systems and successfully industrialized them. Based on the laboratory technology, Suzhou Niumag Analytical Instrument Co., Ltd. has grown into the first domestic brand of low-field nuclear magnetic instrument.

Engineering Research Center for Nanophotonics and Advanced Instrument
Engineering Research Center for Nanophotonics and Advanced Instrument was established based on the research center of functional nanomaterials and device applications, of which the official acceptance was completed in December 2013. The center focuses on the research of nanomaterials, photoelectric devices and engineering applications. There are more than 50 faculty members of Engineering center, including one academician of Asia Pacific academy of sciences (APAM), 1 chief scientist of National key research and development plan. Others have been awarded with various prestigious titles by the ministry of education of China or other local governments, such as Young top-notch talent, Young Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars, New Century Excellent Talents in University (the Ministry of Education). Moreover other achievements and awards such as “excellent young scientist foundation of NSFC”, “Thousand Talent Program for Young Outstanding Scientists”, “Zijiang talents of ECNU” are eye-catching. Among the faculty members, eight of them are supported by the “Shanghai Oriental scholar”, “Shanghai Pujiang Program” and “Shanghai Program for Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar)”. The faculty published more than 500 papers, applied for more than 100 patents, and obtained more than 30 authorized patents for invention. The center has set up the master’s program of “materials and optoelectronics” and the doctoral program of “nanophysics“ in physics discipline. More than 160 full-time students have enrolled in the master program and more than 300 SCI papers were published. 22 doctoral candidates have participated the joint training program with foreign universities and institutes. Our students were the back-to-back winner of the grand prize of “Challenge Cup” of the University Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, and of the “Challenge Cup” of the University Students’ Entrepreneurship Program. They have also been awarded several times in other national and local competition of Academic Science and Technology Works and Entrepreneurship Program. More than 30 students obtained the national scholarship and 27 students graduated with distinction. We give lectures for undergraduate students more than 20 times per year and instruct the research training project and thesis of undergraduate.

Key Laboratory of Polar Materials and Devices,Ministry of Education
Key Laboratory of Polar Materials and Devices was approved the establishment by Ministry of Education in December 2007, and officially passed the acceptance into the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of sequence in March 2011, and passed the evaluation of Ministry of Education Key Laboratory in November 2011. Laboratory aims on the strategic needs of country's information industry and technology development, through the discovery and study of electric charge and spin polarization discipline in the polar materials, then explore the next generation of information processing device technology. The overall goals of laboratory include spin quantum control in semiconductor quantum structure, preparation of high-performance ferroelectric thin film single crystal materials, ferroelectric polarization and thermoelectric conversion law and regulation mechanism, cross application of ferroelectric/ferromagnetic/ semiconductor electronics and photonics, and provide the theoretical basis and technological basis for new features and new concept of optoelectronic functional devices and spintronics devices. There are four main research direction: 1) ferroelectric/multiferroic charge polarization and magnetic coupling laws; 2) electron spin polarization and transportation in narrow band gap semiconductor; 3) spin / charge polarization of optoelectronics; 4) micro/nano oxide polarization electronics and silicon-based integrated devices. The laboratory consists of 10 experimental platform and computing systems, such as theoretical computer center, polarized materials functional thin film, polarized material molecular beam epitaxy, nano-polarized photoelectron materials, wide-band multi-function system magneto-optical spectroscopy, time-resolved precision spectroscopy, novel imaging spectrometer, strong magnetic field cryogenic electron transport, novel functional polarized material devices, polarized materials and device characterization. Currently there are more than 10 sets of large scientific instruments and equipment, including molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), high vacuum pulsed laser deposition system (PLD), atomic layer deposition system (ALD), magnetron DC / RF sputtering machine, high-performance nano-materials preparation system, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition system, Sol-Gel systems, double-crystal X-ray diffraction analyzer (XRD), UV fluorescence microscopy spectrum tester, vacuum-type Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, automatic ellipsometer, strong optical superconducting magnet temperature measuring system, three-lever laser Raman spectrometer, femtosecond YAG laser system, variable temperature ferroelectric / dielectric testing system, comprehensive physical property measurement system, multifunction atomic force microscopy, piezoelectric scanning probe microscope and micro-nano device processing platform, and the total value is nearly 50 million yuan. Key Laboratory of Polar Materials and Devices is the key support base by East China Normal University "985" and "211" projects. Laboratory currently has 32 staff, of which 18 are professors, including 1 academician of Chinese academy of sciences, 3 national outstanding youth foundation winner, 5 new-century / cross-century Talents by ministry of education, and initially formed the research team of the academician led, multi-disciplinary background, about 40 years old young researchers as the main backbone, and was selected as the ministry of education innovation team in 2009. Since the establishment of the laboratory, we have assumed more than 30 projects from Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education, and other important research from national and Shanghai items. Lab members honored by Shanghai natural science first prize (2103) and the second prize (2012).

Institute of Theoretical Physics
The Institute of Theoretical Physics (ITP) of East China Normal University was established in May, 2004. With the spirit "Open, Cooperative, Competitive", the ITP keeps a high-level research group covering most major research directions since its establishment. The members in the ITP stay at the cutting edge of research frontiers and are vigilant to new research progresses, being prepared to provide practicable advises and helping young researches to be more connected with domestic and international collaborations. Five major directions can be abstracted from many facets of physics here theoretical physicists work on, which span from the origin of universe to the evolutions of social and biological systems. These directions are: 1. Complex networks and nonlinear dynamics; 2. Nuclear physics; 3. High energy physics and particle physics; 4. Quantum information theory; 5. Cosmology and general relativity. The ITP now has 14 faculties (7 full professors, 7 associate professors). Up to now, the ITP has awarded more than 30 PhD degrees and 80 Master degrees. The ITP has been consistently granted research funding from multiple sources including National Natural Science Foundation, Minstry of Education (MoE), Shanghai Education Commission. The ITP has published more than 300 research papers on high standard journals, such as Physics Reports, PNAS, Nature Communications and Physical Review Letters, and three monographs. Recently, ITP have been awarded a Second Prize of Science & technology Achievement of MoE (2019) and a Second Prize of Shanghai teaching achievement (2017). The ITP takes the key role in the teaching job of Department of Physics. Aside from the whole spectrum of traditional courses which goes from Classical Mechanics to Quantum Field Theory, ITP also undertakes quite a few interdiscipline courses, such as Complex Network Theory, Time Series Analysis, and Analog/Digital Circuits. The development of ITP always aim at building up into a recognized theoretical research center, producing scientific papers with important influence, fostering scholars with significant global impact, and serving the theoretical demands of national strategy.

Quantum Institute for Light and Atoms
Our institute has 12 faculty members who teach the discipline, four of them are PhD student Supervisors. Most of them are young and have overseas study and research background. Their research interests include quantum metrology, quantum interference, matter wave optics, and interaction between atoms and light. They have solid cooperation relations with well-known international research institutions in these fields, such as NIST and University of Arizona in the U. S., ENS, the Max Planck Institute, and the Danish Bohr Research Institute in the Europe. Except for the theoretical researches, there are several high-level experimental platforms for quantum coherence and quantum materials in the institute, by which they have carried out projects from national 973 plans and key projects form NSFC several times. The research group has more than 40 graduate students, majoring in experimental or theoretical quantum optics and atomic physics. Most of the graduates become college teacher or institute researcher of physics.

Institute of Condensed Matter Physics
The Institute of Condensed Matter Physics (ICMP) of the East China Normal University was established in 2004. Its main purpose is to train researchers in condensed matter physics and carry out research on frontier condensed matter physics. The main research direction of this institute involves many research hot topics such as magnetic electronic materials, theoretical condensed matter physics, and computational condensed matter physics relating to the advance manufacturing and energy materials. Currently we have 12 faculty members including 8 full professors and 4 associate professors. In recent years, the ICMP has received academic awards including Shanghai and the National Natural Science Award and Shanghai Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Awards. Core faculty members have been supported by the fundings from NSFC, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. The graduate students in the ICMP have published more than 100 research papers in academic journals including Physical Review Letters, Nature Materials, JACS, Angew. Chem, Adavnce Materials, Acta Materialia and other top-ranking international academic journals. ICMP maintains close academic collaborations with many top academic institutions at home and abroad, such as: University of California, Berkeley, Max Planck Institute, University of Kansas, Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo Institute of Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. The current director of the ICMP is Prof. Yang Yang.

The Extreme Optoelectromechanix Laboratory (XXL)
The Extreme Optoelectromechanix Laboratory (XXL) was founded by Professor Ya Cheng at the East China Normal University (ECNU) in 2017.In the past nearly two decades, Professor Ya Cheng's group focus on development of laser fabrication technologies based on ultrafast laser sources. The advances have led to innovative micro- and nanostructures for applications ranging from photonics and microfluidics to microelectronics and 3D printing. The XXL provides a platform for domestic and international collaborations.
